These are our Terms of Services. Please note that the German version is legally binding due to Austrian law. Please check the menu for translations.

Terms of Services

Registration

The registration can be done directly online on our website: To register for one of our German Courses, please fill in the provided registration form on our website.
You are obligated to state dates concerning your person correctly and truthfully when registering.

The number of participants for our courses is limited, therefore registrations are considered in the order of receipt of payment.

Deposit

At the same time of your registration you will also have to pay a deposit within three working days of the following amount:

  • 50.- Euro when booking a course
  • 200.- Euro when booking course and accommodation

This deposit will later be deducted from the total amount. If we do not receive the deposit within three workdays, the booking will be automatically canceled.
Within three workdays after having received your deposit, we will send you a confirmation of your booking and your invoice.

Should you have booked a course of General German or Individual Tuition we will also send you a placement test that should be taken within one week.
The remaining amount of your total fees have to be paid 30 days before the start of your course.
After having received the full payment we will send you a payment confirmation.

For “last-minute-bookings” (when the course starts within the next four weeks) the total amount must be transferred in full immediately.

Payment

The total amount of all fees (course fees & accommodation) have to be paid 30 days before the start of your course.
It is important that you quote the name of the participant or the invoice number when paying, so we can match the payment with the participant.

All banking charges must be borne by transferor.

Alterations & Cancellation

Until 30 days before the start of your course, we will try to make any changes concerning dates of beginning of course or arrival, type of course and accommodation as far as possible. The first change is free of charge, for each additional change we have to charge an administration fee of 40.- Euro.
A cancellation of the course or accommodation is only possible up to 14 days before the course starts and has to be done in written form. The cancellation fee for course and accommodation is 200.- Euro (50.- Euro for course, 150.- Euro for accommodation).
No refund can be given if the cancellation happens after this deadline (no matter for what reason, for example illness or the participant does not arrive). Participants are strongly advised to take out insurance against such occurrences.

In case of distance bookings (by internet or email) course participants are entitled to a right of withdrawal within 14 days from the day the contract is concluded. Sending the declaration of withdrawal within this deadline is sufficient. However, this right of withdrawal does not persist if the booked course starts within these 14 days.

Course Terms

One Course Unit is 45 minutes.

If courses last longer than 2 units, there will be a break of 15 minutes, which is not considered teaching time.
Courses always start on Mondays. (Exception: If Monday is a public holiday, the course starts on Tuesday). If you have also booked accommodation with a host family, arrival takes place on Sunday before the course starts and departure on Saturday after the last day of the course. Any change of these rules must be agreed upon between the language school and the participant.
Language tuition takes place from Monday to Thursday or Friday (depending on the chosen course), in the mornings and/or the afternoons.

If units are canceled because the teacher is unavailable, they will be made up for on another date. If an alternative date is not possible, the aliquot part of the course fees will be refunded. If a course is canceled, the course fee will be fully refunded.

Public Holidays

On public holidays the school will be closed and therefor no tuition will take place. Leeway/The units cannot be made up for and will not be refunded.
In Vienna/Austria public holidays are on:

2019: January 1st, January 6th, April 22nd, May 1st, May 30th, June 10th, June 20th, August 15th, October 26th, November 1st, December 8th, December 25th, December 26th

2020: January 1st, January 6th, April 13th, May 1st, May 21st, June 1st, June 11th, August 15th, October 26th, November 1st, December 8th, December 25th, December 26th

2021: January 1st, January 6th, April 5th, May 1st, May 13th, May 24th, June 3rd, August 15th, October 26th, November 1st, December 8th, December 25th, December 26th

2022: January 1st, January 6th, April 18th, May 1st, May 26th, June 6th, June 16th, August 15th, October 26th, November 1st, December 8th, December 25th, December 26th

The language school is also closed between December 27th 2021 and January 7th 2022.

Course Reduction

In group courses there have to be at least two participants. If there is only one participant of the same language level, the daily tuition will be reduced, as the quality of tuition will automatically rise (one-on-one tuition).

Courses that have a daily amount of three units will be reduced to two units a day if there is only one sole participant.

Subsequent Courses

Should you be interested in subsequent courses, you will have to book it. An automatic course reservation is not possible.

Absence

Should you attend courses only irregularly, arrive too late, leave too early, cancel or do not attend the course for any other reason (e.g. illness) a course prolongation or refunding of course costs is not possible.

The Alingua Concordis Certificate can only be issued if you have attended at least 75% of the booked units.

Host families

Accommodation with a host family is subject to availability at the time of booking. For short term bookings (less than 8 weeks), availability of accommodation can not be guaranteed. If we can not organize accommodation at the prices shown on our website, you will be informed and your booking will not be processed without your consent.

You will normally receive the contact details of your host family about two weeks before the beginning of the course.

Participants arrive at the host family on Sunday before the beginning of the course, departure is on Saturday after the end of the course. Any deviations from this must be agreed upon in written form. Extra days can be booked depending on availability.

The participant is obliged to inform the host family about the exact arrival time on Sunday so that they can prepare the reception accordingly. A (refundable) deposit of 100.- € for the key has to be handed over to the family on arrival. Before departure, you will receive the deposit in return for the key back. You are responsible for any damage or loss of keys and must pay the host family for repairs / replacement. The house rules of the host family are to be followed.


Kitchen, washing machine and other household appliances can be used at the discretion of the host family.

Visitors may enter the apartment or the house only with the explicit permission of the host family. Friends and family can not stay overnight. Any participant who behaves unacceptably must leave the accommodation. (Refunds are not possible, see also point "Exclusion / Termination of Agreement"). Another accommodation is sought for all participants who are not receiving adequate care from their host family.

Direct agreements between participants and host families are prohibited.

Sightseeing and Excursions

If not stated otherwise, fees for sightseeing, excursions and other activities of the cultural and leisure program are not included in the Course fees and have to be paid separately on-site or in the office by cash.

Visa

Participants have to take responsibility and have to ensure at their own cost that their entry and their stay in Austria is legal. If necessary, visa has to be acquired.
We will gladly be of help, should you require visa. You have to get your visa at the Austrian Embassy in your home country before departure. We will confirm your booking and payment – if required (this means that you must have already transferred the total amount for course and accommodation to us). All costs regarding obtaining visa will have to be borne by yourself. (for example, normal or express delivery of visa documents to you).
If you do not obtain visa, you will get refunded the costs of course and accommodation minus banking transfer fees and a service fee of 100.- €. To get refunded you have to send us a copy of the visa rejection of our embassy or consulate at least 14 days before the course starts – either via email or mail. The refund will only be made to the bank account from which the payment originally was made.

Travel Insurance

The course participants are not insured by us (against illness, accident, theft, etc.).
Participants of the European Union have to bring along the European Health Insurance Card.
We recommend all participants (especially those who come from outside the European Union but also all others) to conclude a private travel insurance.

Liability

We take no responsibility for personal objects of the participants.
The school assumes no liability for possible damage like illness or accidents incurred by the participant during the course or the culture and leisure program. The participation in trips, excursions and any other activity of the whole cultural and leisure program occurs at the participant's own risk.
Damages and claims of all kinds for which the participant is responsible, are to be settles by the participant directly with the party suffering the damage.
In all publications and websites, the school has provided the information to the best of our knowledge and belief. However no liability for being up-to-date, correctness and completeness of the provided information can be assumed as long as the school cannot be accused of intent or gross carelessness.

In addition, any liability of the language school is excluded, which exceeds the mandatory provisions of tort law. The course participants are neither insured against accident nor illness. Legal guardians are liable for minors.

Exclusion/Termination of Agreement

Should a participant behave grossly contrary to contract, disrupt the tuition in spite of warning, behave in an aggressive, threatening, racist or sexist way or harm the other participants or employees health and safety in anyway, the school has the right to exclude the participant without remuneration. Course fees and fees for accommodation will not be refunded. Furthermore will additional costs arising from this wrongful behavior be borne by the responsible participant.

Further Applicable Documents

Participants have to agree to the school house rules of Alingua Concordis and/or the house rules of the classrooms as well as the house rules of the respective host family.

Compensation for Damages

Inventory, premises, rooms, media, furnishings and equipment of the school as well as of the accommodation are to be treated with care. The participants are liable for all damages caused by them and have to compensate for the damages.

Minimum Age & Prerequisites

The Minimum Age for the participation of our courses is currently 16 years.

The participant must be able to read and write the Latin script.

Data privacy

Each course booking represents a contract. The course participants agree to the terms and conditions and grant the data protection consent to the electronic processing of personal data. All personal details of the participant will only be processed and stored to the extent necessary to fulfill the tasks of the language school.

All information about the participants' personal data will be treated confidentially and will only be used internally, unless it is necessary in connection th our service provision to forward them to third parties (accounting, accommodation, etc.).

All data of the participant will be treated confidentially and only used in-house. Data will not be handed to a third party.

Copyright

While fabricating copies, the responsibility of copyright lies within the user of the copy machine. The users commit themselves to holding the school harmless from all damages and claims in case of copyright issues.

Photos and Films

Photos and films, that are made of you by the school during the German Courses or the cultural and leisure program can be used in marketing materials or published on the websites of the school without compensation. Your registration count as agreement. Should you not agree, you have to declare this before the start of your German course in written form or – even better – state this before registration by email or mail or while registering online under “Personal Free Text”.

Teaching units may not be filmed or otherwise recorded without the consent of the language school.

Obligation to co-operate, notice of defect/Defects liability

The participant is obliged to inform the school immediately after discovering any shortcomings and demand remedy. In case of breach of this condition (not informing us without delay) any claims will be excluded.

Force Majeure

The school is not liable for neither its nor its employees non-fulfillment of contractual obligations or damage if this is due to force majeure, especially natural disasters of any kind (e.g. severe weather, earthquake, flood, etc.), fire, war, strikes, sabotage, terrorism, riot or other beyond the school's sphere of influence, control or responsibility residing reasons.

General Terms

Alterations and amendments of these terms require written form. The organizer reserves the right to change rules, the program, prices and Terms of Services without prior notice. This has no effect on already existing contracts.
Should one point of these Terms and Conditions be or become legally void, the other conditions and terms remain fully valid.
We assume no liability for inaccuracies arising from printing, typographical or translation errors.
Place of jurisdiction in any dispute is the courts at Vienna.
