The metro is called the U-Bahn and runs from 5.00 – 00.30 everyday. On Fridays and Saturdays it runs non-stop. At the moment there are 5 lines in Vienna, the metro net is quite extensive, so you will usually spot one of the stations near you. Watch out for the blue cubes, that have a white “U” written on them – they mark the metro stations in Vienna.
Vienna also has trams, that also run from 5.00 – 00.30.
A single-ride ticket costs 2,20 € but it is not very useful, when you are spending a longer time in Vienna and truly want to see the city.
We recommend purchasing tickets that last for a week or for a month.
Tickets can be purchased from machines that also provide their service in various languages.
A weekly ticket costs 16,20 € and a monthly ticket costs 48,20 €.
Taxis have a start-up fee of 2,50 € and cost about 1.- € per kilometre.
